It is believed that Ochre is the only 100% Indigenous owned business that has an executed PSA and obtained fully compliance status with UGL. As a result Ochre is well positioned to provide bulk numbers of personnel to some of the biggest oil and gas construction projects in Australia.
UGL are also progressing with making Ochre’s Registered Training Organisation unit a preferred supplier of Working at Heights and Confined Space training courses. This one simple line of business will contribute to UGL’s Indigenous Contract Spend obligations and provide Ochre with a steady supply of business over the next 5 to 10 years of the UGL contract for Chevron in WA.
Ochre’s CEO Joanne Pellew says "It’s always a feeling of accomplishment when you receive contracts of this nature, especially given the hard work we have to do to prove ourselves to these big corporates. The payoff for me is knowing we will be able to provide employment for people."
UGL is a leading provider of end-to-end outsourced engineering, asset management and maintenance services with a diversified end-market exposure across core sectors of rail, transport & technology systems, power, resources, water and defence. The business has annual revenue in excess of $2.3 billion, employing over 8,000 people (including subcontractors) across Australia, New Zealand and South East Asia. UGL partners are some of the world’s largest blue-chip companies, government agencies, private enterprise and public institutions.
