The purpose of the program was to enable Ochre to give back to the community by improving the skills and job prospects of the participants.
The participants in the program were very enthusiastic. They enjoyed the day and the opportunity to participate in real, hands-on training which resulted in a nationally recognised ticket that could help them get a job.
Eight of the ten participants were referred from Outcare, a not-for-profit organisation which specialises in crime prevention services and programs. The Outcare coordinator made the following comments after the program was completed:
I just wanted to say A MASSIVE THANK YOU J for the opportunity yesterday to have some of our boys complete their working at heights ticket. I didn’t get to stay the whole day but they came back to the office after the training and they were stoked! They were all talking about it J
The trainer delivered the course very well and was very understanding and considerate when it came to the boys literacy and numeracy. He made them feel very comfortable, and tailored it to suit their needs.
Joanne Pellew, the CEO of Ochre Workforce Solutions, said “We were really pleased to have the opportunity to work with these young men to improve their skills and job readiness. We look forward to doing this again in the future.”
